Sayaka Yamamoto, a former member of the Japanese girl group NMB48, will be holding her first solo Asia tour titled “Sayaka Yamamoto Asia Tour 2024 -Colors-” in Taipei on June 1 and 2 at the Hana Exhibition Space. This will be her first solo concert in Taiwan after more than six years since her visit as a member of NMB48 back in 2017.
Yamamoto started her music career back in 2008 as a guitarist and vocalist for the band “MAD CATZ,” which unfortunately disbanded in 2009. In 2011, she joined the Osaka-based girl group NMB48 and after leaving the group in 2018, she embarked on her solo music career. Her debut album “rainbow” was produced by renowned producer Seiji Kameda and she also collaborated with well-known musicians such as TAKURO from GLAY, Sugashikao, and Takeshi Kobayashi on new songs.
In November 2021, Yamamoto took a break from all activities due to thyroid disease and only resumed her music activities in August 2022. This Asia tour marks her return to Taipei after many years since her idol days.
Expressing her concern for the recent frequent earthquakes in Taiwan, Yamamoto addressed her fans, saying, “I hope everyone can wait for me!”
Earlier, a controversy arose when Yamamoto’s company announced ticket sales for the Taipei concert involving content related to the United Front Work Department of the Chinese Communist Party, sparking protests from fans. However, ATC Taiwan clarified that the disputed terms have been resolved and assured that Taiwanese fans’ rights will not be affected. The organizers announced that tickets for the event will go on sale on April 27 at 12 p.m. through KKTIX and FamilyMart’s Famiport.
Regarding her upcoming visit to Taiwan, Yamamoto expressed her gratitude, saying, “I know there are many people in Taiwan supporting me, and I am very happy to have the opportunity to see everyone again!”
