【Live Preview】US Presidential Election: Debates between Harris and Trump for the First Time

The 2024 US Presidential Election’s second debate is about to take place. Epoch Times and New Tang Dynasty will be conducting a live broadcast with simultaneous Chinese translation, and will also have experts providing commentary.

Next Tuesday (September 10th) from 9:00 to 10:30 pm Eastern Time, the Democratic presidential candidate and Vice President, Kamala Harris, will debate with the Republican presidential candidate and former President, Donald Trump, at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia.

This will be the first time Harris and Trump face off. The first debate was between Trump and President Joe Biden in June, after which Biden decided to withdraw from the race.

Epoch Times’ live broadcast will be divided into three segments:

8:00-9:00 (pre-debate analysis)

9:00-10:30 (simultaneous Chinese translation)

10:30-11:00 (commentary)

The live channels are as follows:

Currently, Harris has traveled to Pittsburgh, the second largest city in the key swing state of Pennsylvania, for a 5-day special training session in preparation for the debate. While she has participated in various election debates before, facing off against Trump will be her biggest challenge yet.

Trump’s preparation for the debate is similar to his approach before debating Biden. He is engaging in campaign rallies, delivering speeches, and discussing policy matters with close aides to get ready for the debate.

On the most pressing issues in America right now – immigration, economy, education, military, and diplomacy, how will sparks fly between the two candidates? What solutions will they propose? It’s a highly anticipated event.

The first debate between Harris and Trump is expected to draw tens of millions of American viewers. The first debate between Biden and Trump earlier attracted 47.9 million viewers, a significant drop compared to the 73 million viewers for their 2020 debate.

The debate will be moderated by the American Broadcasting Company (ABC).

The main rules of the debate are similar to the CNN debate between Trump and Biden in June. ABC previously announced that both candidates have agreed: the microphone will be muted when the other is speaking, there will be no audience, no written notes allowed, no contact with staff, and no questioning of each other.

Similar to the first debate, Trump has chosen to let the other speak first and have the final closing statement, while Harris has chosen the position on the right side of the screen.

Additionally, Harris’ running mate, Tim Walz, will debate Trump’s running mate, J.D. Vance, on October 1st, followed by another debate between Trump and Harris later in October.
