Last Saturday, Epoch Times reported that Chinese engineer Li Ping was accused in the United States of acting as a “foreign agent” for the Chinese Communist Party. The day after, a Chinese resident in Los Angeles suddenly discovered that he was the victim whose address information was sold to the CCP by Li Ping.
Xiao Yunjun, prior to coming to the United States in 2018, was a permanent resident of Hong Kong. He was a well-known entrepreneur in Hubei Province and the Vice Chairman of the Business Federation in Ezhou City, with multiple businesses under his name including real estate companies, mines, and steel mills. In 2016, he successfully bid for a piece of land in the city center of Ezhou that later skyrocketed in value. The local government, eyeing this, unjustly confiscated his assets worth hundreds of millions of yuan under the pretext of cracking down on criminal activities, leading him to flee to the United States.
As a member of the China Democratic Party, Xiao Yunjun revealed at a welcoming event for party founder Zhu Yufu on the 26th that “about a week before seeing this news, the FBI also contacted me. They were very concerned about me, asking if anyone had been following me or persecuting me recently,” which he found strange.
“One question the FBI asked me was: what happened in June 2022?” Xiao Yunjun recalled, “At that time, I didn’t pay much attention, as I am involved in anti-communist activities every day and I wasn’t sure which specific event they were referring to. They didn’t delve deeper into it.” June is a sensitive month for the CCP, with overseas Chinese often protesting in front of Chinese consulates.
The FBI agents warned him to be vigilant of his surroundings and to contact them promptly if he noticed any signs of danger.
“I didn’t understand what was going on at that time. It wasn’t until I saw Epoch Times’ report stating that a Chinese spy named Li Ping in Florida had been arrested, who told the FBI that he received instructions from the Chinese Ministry of State Security in June 2022 to investigate a fugitive who had escaped from Ezhou, Hubei to the United States,” said Xiao Yunjun, realizing why the FBI had warned him about safety two years ago and a week ago: Li Ping had disclosed Xiao Yunjun’s address in Los Angeles to the Ministry of State Security.
Xiao Yunjun revealed that after he came to the U.S. in 2018 and exposed the CCP officials in Ezhou for seizing his assets, the Director of the Ezhou Public Security Bureau contacted him and threatened him, stating, “You are not qualified to fight against us. If you don’t return and surrender to us, your whole family will suffer.”
Xiao Yunjun never expected that the CCP would deploy people to investigate his information in the United States, or that the FBI had been keeping an eye on those working for the CCP, yet had not made any arrests.
When he was living in Sacramento, California two years ago, FBI agents in the area contacted him, inquiring whether anyone was following him. “I was quite baffled at that time. In fact, the FBI probably already knew about the situation, knowing that someone was plotting against me.”
Zheng Cunzhu, Chairman of the China Democratic Party Headquarters, expressed his shock upon hearing this news, acknowledging that while he was aware of Chinese spies in the U.S. acquiring information on democracy activists and relaying it to the CCP, he never thought it would be related to them. In just a few days, 67-year-old democracy activist Tang Yuanjun was arrested and criminally charged in New York for divulging information about China Democratic Party members to the CCP. Zheng Cunzhu, who knew Tang Yuanjun, was shocked to learn that he had acted as a CCP informant, emphasizing how this incident vividly highlighted the CCP’s infiltration into the United States.
Zheng Cunzhu estimated that Xiao Yunjun, who has been at the forefront of protesting against the CCP and Chinese leaders’ visits to the United States, became a target for the CCP. Fortunately, the U.S. government has been closely monitoring him over the years, as the FBI has been aware of these incidents.
Regarding Tang Yuanjun being charged as a “foreign agent” and the CCP sending spies to monitor Chinese residents in the U.S., Liu Yinquan, Chairman of the China Social Democratic Party, stated at the welcoming event for Zhu Yufu that the Tang Yuanjun case is an isolated incident and should not dampen the spirit of democracy activists. He condemned the CCP for using familial ties to coerce Tang Yuanjun into betraying his cause and selling his soul, leading to his downfall, which further exposed the evil nature of the Communist Party.
