Eason Chan makes first public appearance after chin injury, group photo reveals recovery progress.

Hong Kong singer Eason Chan collapsed from heat stroke while playing tennis last month, causing his cheekbone to fracture after hitting the ground, requiring more than 30 stitches. During his recovery, he surprised fans by appearing in a front-facing photo on singer Jin Kam Chiu’s Instagram story on the 14th. In the photo, he maintained his quirky demeanor, and the scar on his chin was not very prominent. Although Jin Kam Chiu swiftly deleted the photo, netizens managed to capture screenshots in time.

On July 14, Hong Kong singer Jin Kam Chiu posted a photo with Eason Chan on his Instagram story with the caption “long time no see x2. thanks for coming,” followed by three heart emojis. In the photo, the two leaned their heads together for a selfie, with Eason Chan making a playful expression, and it seemed that the injury on his chin had already healed.

However, upon zooming in on the photo, some netizens still noticed faint needle marks. It seems that the doctor’s technique was delicate and Eason Chan’s recovery was progressing well. Despite Jin Kam Chiu swiftly deleting the photo after posting it, netizens were quick to capture and share the image.

Last month on the 10th, Eason Chan collapsed from heat stroke while playing tennis, hitting his chin on the ground and fracturing his cheekbone, requiring at least 30 stitches. Doctors estimated he needed a minimum of 6 weeks of rest, which led to the postponement of his scheduled concerts in Chongqing and Foshan in June and July to 2025.

Eason Chan’s wife, Hilary Tsui, recently took to social media to publicly thank the team who took care of his meals during his hospitalization. His agent later revealed that Eason Chan’s stitches had been removed, his mental state was good, but he was still limited to consuming liquid food temporarily. It was also mentioned that once the wound on his chin fully healed, there should be no significant scarring that would affect his singing, reassuring fans not to worry.

Eason Chan’s “Fear and Dreams” tour, initiated in 2022, encountered multiple issues after expanding to Mainland China this year. Apart from the tennis incident prior to a performance, he unexpectedly appeared in casual attire the day after celebrating his 100th concert on May 24, tearfully announcing the postponement and eventual cancellation of two shows in Hangzhou due to health reasons. Previously, during a concert in Wuhan, he accidentally pulled a muscle while dancing, humorously remarking to fans, “It really hurts so bad that I cried, I’ve never experienced this before.”

Since the resumption of live performances in Mainland China in 2023, incidents of artists falling ill leading to concert delays or cancellations have become quite common. Some were due to COVID-19 infections, while others were from routine colds. The disarray of emergency response plans by some organizers has drawn criticism from many consumers. Many fans also have reservations about the overly congested schedules and artists being overloaded with work.
