Recently, a man from Hangzhou claimed to have found a mouse head in a bowl of Nongshim Sour Kimchi Beef Noodles, sparking attention. The company responded that verification is needed.
According to “Xiaoxiang Morning News,” a netizen posted a video on July 14th claiming to have found foreign objects in the Nongshim Sour Kimchi Beef Noodles, saying, “This is a rat head from the kimchi, and yes, I even took a bite.”
The photos posted by the netizen show an unidentified object near the Nongshim sour kimchi packet. When zoomed in, it appears to have sharp teeth and whiskers. On the packaging of the Nongshim Sour Kimchi Beef Noodles shown in the photos, there is a label that reads, “Reassuring factory inspection visible, scan the code to view the production line,” and scanning the adjacent QR code reveals videos of the production line of Nongshim instant noodles and the Sour Kimchi jar room.
According to “People’s Concerns” report, Mr. Wu, the person involved, said that on the 14th, he purchased the Nongshim Sour Kimchi Beef Noodles from a small store. When he consumed it that night, he found a mouse head in the noodles and has lodged a complaint with the local market supervision department. “I was about to eat the kimchi, and when I put it in my mouth, it tasted fishy. When I spat it out, I found fur and teeth, it was a mouse head.”
At 3 pm on July 15th, the person who revealed finding the mouse head in the noodles posted another video, stating that “Nongshim staff are dealing with it,” but the subsequent video of the resolution could not be viewed. The reporter from “Xiaoxiang Morning News” attempted to contact the person involved through private message but was unsuccessful due to their privacy settings.
“Xiaoxiang Morning News” called Nongshim Kunshan Enterprise Food Co., Ltd. consumer hotline, and a staff member stated that they have arranged specialists to contact the consumer for verification. They have made contact, but the specific circumstances require confirmation and verification. The sour kimchi packet in the instant noodles has a cooperating supplier, and the packaging contains a QR code, allowing consumers to check the origin of the factory.
This incident has once again raised concerns among the public regarding food safety.
“Food safety is worrying”, “Food safety is worrying, has always been, and even the meat buns outside, nobody knows what kind of meat they are made of.”
“A mouse ended up in the kimchi, got packaged into the kimchi packet, its head was cut into chunks by the machine, looking like the size of a fork. How many times has the issue of kimchi been exposed without being resolved? The kimchi is all purchased, where is the quality assurance? The other ingredient packets are made from dried vegetables with a light weight, easy to spot, no visible mouse heads.”
“Can Nongshim guarantee themselves, can they ensure the cooperation partners? The kimchi packet has another supplier, can Nongshim monitor the product quality one by one? Nowadays, instant food and semi-finished product production all have partners. It’s difficult to produce multiple flavors of ingredients with just one factory!”
“Purchased Nongshim Sour Kimchi Beef Noodles at a small store! Especially in rural small stores, counterfeit goods emerge endlessly, with weak supervision! This time, the mixing of kerosene and edible oil, was it not reported or was it not regulated by anyone? This has become a turning point for food safety.”
However, some netizens are skeptical, “This rat head is too clear, too unquestionable, making it hard to believe that while the kimchi was cut into pieces during the production process, the rat head managed to escape safely.” “This rat head is too big, it’s impossible not to notice anything in any seasoning packet! Obtaining evidence is very difficult, all packaging should be kept for inspection!”
“I just think it’s difficult to believe that with the current quantity of kimchi packets, fitting just this one rat head is challenging. It’s hard to imagine putting one rat head in each seasoning packet? Logically unbelievable, small remains are another matter, but if it’s true, it’s really disgusting!”
