Jiang Pinchao, the editor of the “June Fourth Poetry Collection,” revealed to a reporter from Epoch Times that the song “My Hometown is Jianghu” has been banned by the CCP. On the morning of June 29, he shared the song in a domestic WeChat group, where some classmates expressed being deeply moved and praised it. However, by the afternoon, another classmate reported being unable to access the link. After Jiang approached the classmate privately, realizing there was an issue, he was advised not to mix hometown sentiment with politics.
The lyrics of “My Hometown is Jianghu” depict the beauty of the village, with scenes of fish swimming in the water, abundant crops in the fields, and the warm interactions among villagers. Jiang Pinchao explained that this song is based on his own experiences and longing for his hometown. Born in Jianghu Village, Ma Wan Town, Tianmen City, Hubei Province, he was sentenced to four years in prison following the events of June Fourth and left the country in 1996, unable to return for nearly thirty years.
