In Ma’anshan, Anhui Province, a customer in a restaurant got into a dispute with the owner over the bill and ended up fatally stabbing the owner with a knife. The shocking act of violence was triggered by a dispute over a restaurant bill. It was reported that a customer got into an argument with the restaurant owner over a few tens of yuan (Chinese currency) in bill payment after dining.
On July 4, a netizen posted on a social media platform that a knife attack incident occurred in a restaurant on Shatang Road in Ma’anshan City, resulting in the death of the male restaurant owner, allegedly due to a dispute over the bill.
According to a nearby shop owner’s account, the incident took place around 7 p.m. on July 3, and the restaurant owner tragically lost his life. The restaurant has since been closed. As per his understanding, the customer who committed the assault had underpaid the bill after dining, leading to a dispute between the two parties.
Another netizen revealed that the customer had consumed a meal worth 94 yuan, was asked by the owner to pay, refused to do so, took out a knife, and stabbed the owner three times, causing the owner’s immediate death. Other employees and customers present at the scene also suffered varying degrees of injuries.
According to witnesses and nearby businesses, following a dispute over the bill with the restaurant owner after dining, a customer escalated the argument and ended up stabbing the male owner of the restaurant. The owner tragically lost his life.
On the afternoon of July 5, the Shatang Police Station in Ma’anshan City stated that the detailed information about the case would be released by the Huashan Sub-Bureau of Ma’anshan Public Security Bureau. As of the publication of this report, the Huashan Sub-Bureau of Ma’anshan Public Security Bureau has not yet released a detailed incident report.
Staff at the Ma’anshan City Funeral Home confirmed receiving the victim’s body, but due to the nature of the case, the cremation process has been temporarily postponed.
