Texas Arrests One Person on List of “Top 10 Most Wanted Illegal Immigrant Criminals”

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) announced on June 6th that they have arrested one of the “Top 10 Most Wanted Illegal Immigrant Criminals” in the state.

According to DPS, after a multi-agency fugitive investigation, 62-year-old Mexican illegal immigrant Servando Trejo Duran was apprehended in Baytown, Texas.

He was wanted for murder and violating parole conditions.

DPS described Duran as “armed and dangerous,” noting his extensive criminal history including charges of murder, burglary, and tampering with government records.

Since a warrant was issued for his arrest by the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles in March 2023, Duran had been on the run.

Lieutenant Chris Olivarez, a spokesperson for DPS, stated in a post on X, “Texas is prioritizing efforts to identify and track these dangerous criminals to ensure the state’s safety.”

Duran’s capture was based on investigative information rather than tips received through the Texas Crime Stoppers hotline, so the $5,000 reward for information leading to his arrest will not be issued.

On June 5th, Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced that there are still 9 criminal illegal immigrants on the state’s “Top 10 Most Wanted Illegal Immigrant Criminals” list.

Abbott said that this initiative aims to strengthen law enforcement efforts in capturing habitual offenders who have entered the U.S. illegally and committed serious crimes in Texas.

This new initiative was created in collaboration with the Texas Department of Public Safety and funded by the Governor’s office of Public Safety, providing cash rewards for anyone providing information leading to the apprehension of these criminals.

Abbott stated, “Texas is a state of law and with the help of our fellow Texans, we will ensure that illegal immigrants on the list are taken off our streets and put behind bars to ensure the safety of our communities.”

The majority of the individuals on the new Most Wanted list have multiple criminal records, with six of them being wanted for crimes related to child sexual offenses.
