11 Dead or Injured in Car Accident on First Day of Eleventh Month in Hunan

On the first day of the “National Day” holiday, a major car accident occurred on the Hu-Kun Expressway in Huaihua, mainland China, resulting in at least 6 deaths and 4 injuries.

A widely circulated video online shows that before dawn, on the side of the highway, vehicles collided and burst into flames.

Netizens commented: “I was trapped on the Hu-Kun Expressway for over four hours, right near Anjiang Service Area.” “We only managed to get out from there after 6 o’clock in the morning.”

The Hunan Expressway Traffic Police 7th Division reported that at around 2:07 am on October 1st, an accident occurred at kilometer 1407.2 of the Hu-Kun Expressway in Huaihua.

A 57-year-old man, Ren from Luyi, Henan, was driving a heavy-duty semi-trailer truck (Anhui License Plate SE1315/Black Plate M8L65) when he collided with a small car on the section of the incident, then collided with another small car in front of him, causing him to lose control and push another small car forward, resulting in a fire. The accident led to at least 6 deaths and 4 injuries, with 4 vehicles sustaining various degrees of damage.

It is reported that Ren has been taken into police custody on suspicion of driving while fatigued.
