In recent years, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has continually claimed to be prepared for war, leading to speculation among internet users due to some unusual occurrences. On September 16th, an object resembling a fighter jet was spotted on the streets of Zhaoqing, Guangdong, prompting official responses attributing it to be a model. On the same day, residents of Longxi County in Gansu Province reported observing what seemed to be Air Force night training activities, including the release of decoy flares (or illumination flares) into the sky, with no official explanation provided.

Authorities in the area stated on September 17th that the object was indeed a model fighter jet, which had fallen off a truck during transportation due to improper securing. The situation was reportedly handled without any injuries, and local police have launched an investigation into the incident.
Additionally, on the night of September 16th, residents of Longxi County, Dingxi City, Gansu Province, reported what appeared to be Chinese Air Force night training exercises involving the mass release of decoy flares (some referred to as illumination flares) over the urban area.
Public information indicates that illumination flares are equipped with parachutes to prolong their stay in the air, serving as a bright light source to illuminate ground battlefields. Decoy flares, on the other hand, are clusters of high-intensity, rapidly extinguishing fireballs used by aircraft to deceive heat-seeking missiles.
Mainland Chinese internet users commented, “I don’t understand why they would drop these in residential areas,” and questioned, “Are they dropping training ordnance on residential buildings?”

As of now, neither the CCP military nor the local government in Gansu have issued any public training notices or clarifications. There has been no coverage by mainland Chinese media on the matter.
However, on September 12th, the CCP military media reported nighttime and dawn flight training by a unit within the Air Force.
Moreover, in recent years, there have been frequent reports of booming sounds in the skies across different regions of China, with officials attributing them to be sonic booms and ruling out earthquakes, mining explosions, or other industrial accidents.
Sonic booms are explosive noises generated when flying objects reach supersonic speeds, transmitted to the ground as a result of shockwaves, commonly caused by fighter jets flying at supersonic speeds.
