Entertainment personality Huang Jiaqian and Canadian actor Kell have been married for 16 years, and it has been reported that the two have been living apart for a year and are now involved in divorce proceedings. After two years of legal battles in Taiwan and Canada, there have been recent developments, with the Shilin District Court issuing a protective order for Huang Jiaqian, which was also confirmed by Huang Jiaqian on her Facebook account.
The couple has always presented an image of a harmonious family in the past. Last summer, Kell even shared pictures of their life in Canada with Huang Jiaqian on social media, showing a very cozy life. However, it came as a shock when a magazine reported that the two have been living apart for a year and their relationship took a sudden turn for the worse, leaving the public in disbelief.
In response to this, Huang Jiaqian later issued a statement confirming the marital issues. However, both parties are still involved in transnational legal battles, having been in litigation in Taiwan and Canada for 2 years, with each side having different claims regarding domestic violence. The latest development in the case is that the Shilin District Court issued a protective order for Huang Jiaqian and determined the facts of domestic violence committed by Kell.
According to reports from Apple Daily, the court document states that Kell has been involved in multiple instances of domestic violence, including physical attacks, direct and indirect verbal abuse, as well as making death threats. It also mentions Kell engaging in self-harm behavior when emotionally agitated. As a result, the court ruled that Kell must stay 300 meters away from Huang Jiaqian’s residence.
In response to this, Kell’s appointed law firm stated that they are “still in the process of understanding the situation.”
Huang Jiaqian took to her Facebook page to express her gratitude for the judicial assistance, stating that it proved to be the best choice and eventually led to receiving judicial protection.
