On August 22nd, when villagers in Fengjie County, Chongqing set up traps to catch wild boars, they were attacked by a wild boar weighing about 300 kilograms. One person was gored by the wild boar and fell to their death from a cliff approximately 10 meters high, while another person was injured.
Recently, a netizen on a social media platform claimed that a villager in Fengjie, Chongqing was attacked and killed by a wild boar at the age of 52.
On August 25th, after multiple interviews, a reporter from Red Star News learned that the incident took place in Yecha Village of Hongtu Township in Fengjie County. In addition to the villager named Duan who fell to his death from the cliff, another villager was injured.
The injured villager Zhang explained that previously, Duan had set up traps to catch the wild boar because it had been damaging the corn crops. Around 7 a.m. on August 22nd, when Zhang and Duan went to check the traps, as the wild boar was not caught, it attacked them. Zhang, who was in front, was attacked first and his hand was injured by the wild boar’s tusks. Subsequently, the wild boar attacked Duan. Duan tried to evade the boar by circling around a tree at the edge of the cliff, but the boar followed him and eventually “gored” Duan, causing him to fall to his death on the rocky ground at the foot of the cliff. “The cliff is about two stories high, less than 10 meters.”
Zhang mentioned that the whole incident happened in just a few minutes, and the wild boar weighed around two to three hundred kilograms. After the incident, he descended the mountain path to look for Duan. At that time, the wild boar was still at the scene, but later disappeared.
A local resident named Tang stated that on August 22nd, Duan and others went to check on the situation with the wild boar traps when they were attacked by a wild boar weighing about 300 kilograms. Duan tried to evade the boar by circling around a tree at the edge of the cliff but the boar continued to attack, ultimately causing Duan to fall from the cliff which was approximately 10 meters high. Another villager, Zhang, suffered injuries to his hand. Following Duan’s death, his family has already buried him.
Another villager from the same village as Duan mentioned that wild boars had been a persistent problem in the area as they destroyed the corn crops of the villagers. This led Duan to attempt to catch the wild boar before the tragic incident occurred. On the day of the incident, when Duan and Zhang went to the site to investigate, Duan was attacked by a wild boar weighing around two to three hundred kilograms and was “gored” down to the cliff approximately 10 meters high, resulting in his instant death. Villager Zhang was also wounded by the tusks of the wild boar. Currently, Duan has been laid to rest.
Villagers suspect that the wild boar is still in the vicinity, and they are concerned that it may pose a threat to people in the future and continue to damage their crops.
