Hubei Enshi Provincial Party Secretary Hu Chaowen falls from power

The Secretary of the Enshi Prefectural Committee, Hu Chaowen, in Hubei Province, was placed under investigation during his term.

On May 6th, official reports indicated that Hu Chaowen, the Secretary of the Enshi Prefectural Committee in Hubei Province, was suspected of serious violations of discipline and law, and is currently under investigation.

According to the Enshi Daily, on March 4th, Secretary Hu Chaowen of the Enshi Prefecture received a group of visitors at the Prefecture’s Letters and Visits Office.

The visitors raised issues related to a real estate development project causing damage to surrounding houses, as well as villagers in a certain village reporting that natural gas had not been fully installed in households, requiring solutions to pipeline laying and gas provision.

Concerning the investigation of Secretary Hu Chaowen during his term, some netizens expressed surprise, with one saying he was arrested right after the May Day holiday, while others claimed he had been taken away the previous month. It seems the situation has finally come to light.

Another netizen mentioned that Hu Chaowen was close to retirement when the investigation took place.

Hu Chaowen, of Han ethnicity, was born in Hubei Ezhou in October 1966. He started working in 1988 and joined the Communist Party of China in 1989. He has held various important positions in Hubei Province, including in cities such as Ezhou, Xianning, Shiyan, among others. He has been serving as the Secretary of the Enshi Prefectural Committee since 2021, also holding the position of the First Secretary of the Enshi Military Subdistrict Party Committee.

Hu Chaowen is also a delegate to the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, a representative in the 13th and 14th Hubei Provincial People’s Congress, as well as a member of the 12th Committee of the Communist Party of China in Hubei Province.
