Bridge accident on Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge: One dead, one injured in their sixties

In the early hours of May 4th, a traffic accident occurred on the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge, where a 67-year-old man lost control of his vehicle, causing it to overturn, leading to the tragic death of his 62-year-old wife.

According to reports from DaXiang News, at 4:41 am on the 4th, Hong Kong police received a report that a private car was traveling towards Hong Kong on the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge. When it reached the Hong Kong port clearance plaza, it appeared to have lost control, hitting multiple traffic cones and a checkpoint before overturning.

Firefighters rescued the two occupants from the wreckage. The male driver sustained injuries to his limbs, while the female passenger suffered multiple injuries across her body and remained unconscious. They were rushed to the Margaret Hospital for treatment, where the woman was pronounced dead at 6:16 am.

It was revealed that the two individuals were a married couple, with the driver surnamed Miao (67 years old) and the wife surnamed Yang (62 years old). Alcohol tests confirmed that the driver had not consumed alcohol prior to the incident.

Currently, the driver is under arrest on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. The Traffic Department Special Investigation Team of the South New Territories Region is conducting a thorough investigation into the matter.
