Dead body found on a sandbar in Guangdong, only exposing legs and feet

Recently, the Emergency Management Bureau of Huidong County, Guangdong Province, released information about a safety responsibility accident. The topic of “Male corpse found at sand unloading site with only legs and feet exposed” has drawn attention and made it to the trending list on April 19.

The accident occurred on the morning of October 11, 2025. Surveillance video footage showed that in the factory area of Jisheng Building Materials Co., Ltd. in Huizhou City, a production supervisor illegally entered the shoveling operation area of a loader during loading operations and was inadvertently shoveled into the bucket along with the sand by the loader, which was then tipped into a transport vehicle. The production supervisor was buried under a large amount of sand and suffocated to death.

At that time, the loader operator at Jisheng Company, Li, was operating a loader with a Shandong Lingong Corporation badge to shovel sand. The deceased, Lu, was a production supervisor of the company. He walked out from the blind spot behind a sand-carrying truck and entered the operational area of the loader at the time of the incident.

The surveillance footage showed that Li failed to notice Lu during the operation and directly shoveled him along with the sand into the bucket, which was then emptied into the nearby sand truck. Li remained unaware throughout the process and continued with the subsequent loading operation. After loading was completed, the sand truck driver, Zhang, drove the vehicle out of the factory area to Shengteng Company’s sand unloading station in Shenzhen-Shanwei Special Cooperation Zone.

When the sand spilled out, workers at the scene were surprised to find a man buried in the sand pile, with only his legs and feet visible.

Medical personnel at the scene confirmed that Lu had no vital signs. After examination and identification, it was determined that the deceased died of asphyxia due to being buried under a large amount of sand.

According to the investigation, Jisheng Company was established in June 2023, mainly engaged in the processing and sale of construction stones, with a total of 21 employees. The company’s safety production education and training for loader operators, production supervisors, and other employees were merely formalities, failing to ensure strict adherence to safety production regulations and operating procedures. There were also serious deficiencies in safety management at the operation site, as no technical or managerial measures were taken to eliminate the safety hazards in the loader’s operation area.

The company’s main person in charge, Wei, the plant manager, was given administrative penalties.

Jisheng Company, the company involved, received administrative penalties.

Loader operator Li was subjected to criticism, education, and corresponding disciplinary action.

The accident investigation team concluded that the deceased, Lu, illegally entered the loader’s operational area and did not take proper emergency avoidance measures, thus bearing direct responsibility for the accident. Considering his death in the accident, he was exempted from further liability.
