Taiwanese variety show “All Star Gathering” host Hu Gua recently visited the exterior filming location at the Lizai Jianyuan Temple in Yilan, where he was surprised with a birthday celebration by the local villagers and production team. Everyone sang him the “Happy Birthday” song, making him laugh as he joked about how difficult it is to get people to behave when he usually asks them to listen to him like good grandmas and grandpas – this time, they all kept the surprise so well that no one spilled the beans and wished him happy birthday ahead of time.
On June 4th this year, Hu Gua will be celebrating his 65th birthday. The show’s team arranged a special surprise for the host by filming early at the location and having the Vice President of TTV, Xu Niantai, lead the staff from the variety center and public relations department in joining the local villagers to celebrate Hu Gua’s birthday.
Hu Gua first expressed his gratitude to everyone for the birthday celebration and shared that his wishes are all about wishing well for everyone around him, emphasizing that health and safety are the most important. On his first day being 65 years old, he expressed a desire to take the free bus and MRT, promising to film it and share with everyone, his cute and simple birthday wish brought laughter to all.
As Hu Gua has been interacting with the public for many years, he thanked each villager present at the filming location, calling them invisible hosts who bring joy and laughter to everyone. He also distributed 50 small cakes to the local villagers on-site as a token of appreciation for their ongoing support.
Hu Gua also expressed gratitude for traveling all around Taiwan for the past 22 years and thanked the audience for their viewership support, making the program the number one show for 22 years straight, which he acknowledges is no easy feat. He also expressed his hopes for the show to move towards internationalization in the future, showcasing to the world that Taiwan has such amazing content to offer.
