Chinese Communist Party’s Four Coast Guard Ships Disturb Waters Near Kinmen, Taiwan Coast Guard Forces Drive Them Away

On December 12, 2025, Taiwan – Four Chinese Communist Party (CCP) coast guard ships that had turned off their Automatic Identification System (AIS) invaded the restricted waters of Kinmen on the morning of the 11th. They were monitored and driven away by four patrol boats from the Ocean Affairs Council of the Republic of China.

The 12th Patrol Zone of the Taiwan Coast Guard’s Kinmen, Matsu, and Penghu Branch discovered four Chinese Coast Guard ships with the AIS turned off with identification numbers “14533,” “14606,” “14529,” and “14603” at 8:50 am on the 11th.

The four CCP coast guard ships, in pairs, entered the restricted waters of Kinmen from the south of Lieyu and the southwest of Lualuo, and simultaneously intruded towards the east.

The Taiwan Coast Guard immediately dispatched four patrol boats to closely monitor and confront the CCP coast guard ships, blocking them from advancing deeper into Kinmen waters. At the same time, they continued to use radio broadcasts in Chinese and English to demand that the ships change their course. Under the firm enforcement by the patrol boats, the CCP coast guard ships left the restricted waters of Kinmen at 10:50 am.

The Coast Guard stressed that the CCP coast guard’s intrusion pattern this time, different from the previous incidents where they respectively intruded from the east of Lualuo and the southwest of Lieyu and navigated relatively parallel to Taiwan’s coast, showed a continuous variation in their provocative actions. It demonstrated their intent to constantly challenge Taiwan’s detection and response capabilities.

The Coast Guard will continue to maintain a high-intensity surveillance, response, and deployment capability around the clock to closely monitor maritime dynamics and respond comprehensively to such provocations. They are fully dedicated to defending national sovereignty and ensuring maritime security.
