The Taipei Film Festival, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, launched the “Extraordinary Actors” project last year, which received enthusiastic response. Today (June 11), the 26th edition announced the lineup of nine extraordinary actors along with promotional short films. This year’s lineup includes Wang Bojie, Li Mu, Song Yunhua, Li Peiyu, Lin Bohong, Ke Jia-yan, Yao Chun-yao, Fu Mengbai, and Xie Yingxuan.
The “Extraordinary Actors” project at the Taipei Film Festival was first unveiled last year. Apart from shooting full foreign language films for the actors and establishing a dedicated website to accumulate actor database, they also went to the Busan International Film Festival for the “Asia Content & Global OTT Awards”, where they stood out at the award ceremony and interacted with filmmakers from around the world.
For the second consecutive year, the project has been launched with the renowned producers Liao Qingsong, Chen Yongxiong, Tang Zaiyang, international film festival consultant Zhang Sanling, directors Yang Yazhe, Xu Yuting, and veteran talent agent Huang Yiting serving as selection committee members.
The final list of nine actors includes Wang Bojie, who won the Best Actor at the Golden Horse Awards last year for “Outbreak”; Li Mu, a Golden Bell Award-winning actress who was chosen as an extraordinary newcomer at the Golden Horse Awards; Song Yunhua, a popular overseas actress known for “Our Times”; Li Peiyu, a versatile actress excelling in film, music, and television; Lin Bohong, the ambassador of this year’s Golden Horse Awards; Ke Jia-yan, a two-time Golden Bell Award-winning actress; Yao Chun-yao, a versatile actor who has won multiple Golden Bell Awards for his acting skills; Fu Mengbai, who won the Best Supporting Actor at the Golden Horse Awards last year for “Today Is Day Off”; and Xie Yingxuan, a dual winner of the Golden Horse and Golden Rooster Awards for Best Actress.
One of the highlights that movie fans can look forward to this year is the invitation of the recipient of this year’s Outstanding Contribution Award at the Golden Horse Awards, Master Yan Zhenfa, to paint the representative characters of the nine actors on giant “Extraordinary Actors” movie billboards. They will be displayed outside the Zhongshan Hall starting from June 14.
The image photos of the actors for this year’s edition were done by the well-known photographer Mr. Triangle, and the individual video profiles were custom-made by Bao Niao Yinghua. A 30-second promotional video has been released today, showcasing the actors’ dynamic moments. The full video will premiere globally on the TaiwanPlus Arts & Culture YouTube channel on June 18.
