The United States Department of State has not yet sent congratulations to Xi Jinping on the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the Communist Party of China, which is different from previous years.
According to Xinhua News Agency, leaders from countries such as Russia, North Korea, Vietnam, and Cuba sent congratulations to Xi Jinping on the eve of October 1st for the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the Communist Party of China.
Traditionally, the US State Department would send congratulations to China on the eve of their National Day, but this year the US has not officially released a message. The South China Morning Post reported that the US State Department had sent congratulations to China on September 29, 2023, and September 30, 2022.
Additionally, the US State Department spokesperson Matthew Alan Miller did not mention this topic during the daily press briefing on Tuesday, October 1st. The main focus of the briefing was the US response to Iran’s missile attack on Israel.
Recently, the competition between China and the US in trade, technology, and military fields has been intensifying.
Just a week ago, the Chinese military announced that the Rocket Force had launched an intercontinental ballistic missile carrying a training simulation warhead into the Pacific Ocean. According to Chinese media, this was the first full-range test of an intercontinental ballistic missile by China in 44 years since 1980.
US defense analyst John Ridge suggested that China may view this test as a signal to the US.
On the eve of China’s National Day, the navies of the US, Philippines, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand conducted joint military exercises on September 28th. On the same day, the Chinese military announced exercises near the Huangyan Island area.
The upcoming US presidential election is widely seen as crucial for the future of US-China relations.
Both presidential candidates – Republican nominee and former US President Donald Trump and Democratic nominee and US Vice President Kamala Harris, are known for their tough stance on China.
Their respective running mates – Senator J.D. Vance and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, were also questioned on China-related issues during a recent vice presidential debate.
