Recently, a man named Yu Haichao from Henan province posted a video online, claiming that his 7-year-old son, Yu Zikang, was injured on the head by a man from the same village who hit him with a chair. The boy was taken to the hospital for treatment and has been in the ICU since then. Due to the extremely high medical expenses in the ICU and the fact that the perpetrator has no financial ability to compensate, Yu Haichao has reached out to the community for help.
“I am a single father, divorced a long time ago, and my son has been living with me since he was 1 year old. He would spend weekends playing in the village with his grandparents,” Yu Haichao told the Xiao Xiang Morning Post on August 21. On August 17, his son had just returned to Caoyan Village in Luoshan County. In less than a day, the perpetrator, Luo Moumou, hit Yu Zikang on the back of his head with a chair with such force that he immediately fell unconscious and unresponsive.
The video released by Yu Haichao shows Yu Zikang lying on the ground in the village, covered in blood with an ambulance rushing to the scene. According to the police investigation, the reason Luo Moumou attacked Yu Zikang was because the boy had ridden his bike over the chicken feed Luo Moumou had scattered on the ground. The case has now been registered as “intentional harm.”
The diagnosis issued by the Xinyang Central Hospital indicates that Yu Zikang has severe open head trauma, bilateral intracranial hematomas, traumatic subdural hematoma, multiple cerebral contusions, and skull fractures. The attending physician recommends continued hospitalization for emergency treatment due to the critical condition of the patient.
It was reported that Yu Zikang has been in a coma since being hospitalized on August 17. Yu Haichao mentioned that the cost of ICU treatment is approximately around 15,000 yuan per day, and while some kind-hearted individuals have donated tens of thousands of yuan, Luo Moumou has not contributed a single cent for compensation. Due to the substantial expenses, Yu Haichao is unsure about the next steps. “I want to transfer my child to another hospital, but I am worried that bone fragments might pierce an artery in his head, so I dare not make a rash decision.”
In response to the situation, a staff member from the Caoyan Village Committee stated that they are working on solutions to cover Yu Zikang’s medical expenses. Luo Moumou, on the other hand, has no parents, no children, and no money for repayment.
