In the early morning of August 16, around 4 a.m., a bread van carrying loading and unloading personnel plunged into the sea as it left the Taoyuan Fishing Port in Rongcheng City, Shandong Province.
According to a report from the Rongcheng City Media Center’s official WeChat account, there were a total of 11 people on the van, with 3 rescued, 6 deceased, and 2 still being searched for. However, the report did not specify the cause of the van’s plunge into the sea.
Many netizens commented in the video section, questioning, “How could a bread van accommodate so many people?” “A bread van is limited to carrying 7 people, but there were 4 people over the limit.” “Wasn’t there a family of five from Rongcheng a few days ago (1 dead and 4 injured in a car accident)? How come there’s another incident now?” “Those who work in loading and unloading at the fishing port are poor people, it seems misfortunes always find those in misery… I hope the families of the deceased receive full compensation, so that their family members can have a good life!”
