5 dead in collision between a passenger car and a semi-trailer on Sichuan expressway

On February 26th, in the Chinese province of Sichuan, a tragic accident occurred on the Luzhou-Xiarong Expressway, involving a collision between a bus and a semi-trailer truck, resulting in the deaths of at least 5 people.

According to a report from the official WeChat account of the “Sichuan Highway Traffic Police Third Division,” at around 9:35 am on February 26th, on the 1847-kilometer section of the G76 Luzhou-Xiarong Expressway in Luxian District, a medium-sized bus (with a capacity of 17 people, actually carrying 16 people) collided with a heavy semi-trailer truck. The accident resulted in the deaths of 3 passengers on the bus on the spot, while 2 other passengers with more serious injuries succumbed after being rushed to the hospital for treatment.

The license plates indicated that the bus was from Zhaotong City in Yunnan Province (Yun C) and the heavy semi-trailer truck was from Chengdu in Sichuan Province (Chuan A).

As of now, the section of the road where the accident took place has been reopened for traffic. The authorities are currently conducting further investigations to determine the cause of the accident.
