41st National Games Fully Launched, Welcome Participants and Spectators.

The 41st Golden Mountain Bay Area Chinese Sports Conference, held a press conference at the South Bay Overseas Education Center on May 24th (last Saturday) to officially announce the upcoming various competitive activities and sincerely invite the people of the Bay Area to actively participate and make the event a success.

This year’s sports conference, themed “Golden Snake Brilliance, Chinese Sports Soaring,” has planned 23 events and activities, with the opening ceremony scheduled to take place on July 27 at Fremont High School in Sunnyvale.

Chairman of the Chinese Sports Association, Chen Ligong, stated that the Chinese Sports Conference is not only about sports competitions but also an important stage for uniting overseas Chinese communities and showcasing cultural identity. This year, a limited edition commemorative hat with embroidered logo design and a new design of medals utilizing UV three-dimensional printing technology, weighing over 60 grams, will be introduced, both with high collectible value.

Director of the Overseas Education Center, Zhuang Yashu, highlighted three major features of this year’s Chinese Sports Conference. Firstly, the carefully curated diverse events cover all age groups, ensuring participation opportunities for the young and old alike. Secondly, the Torch Relay event will connect the South and North Bay, demonstrating the unity spirit of overseas Chinese communities. Lastly, the opening ceremony will integrate the Overseas Affairs Commission’s “Bridge-Building Project,” inviting young representatives from Taiwan universities for cultural exchange and performances to enhance cultural connections and identity among youth at home and abroad.

Executive Advisor Lu Yuzhen provided additional details on the celebrity race, South Bay Torch Relay, and the opening ceremony arrangements. The Torch Relay ceremony will involve over two hundred participants in performances, and the opening ceremony will feature sunshade canopies and rest areas to create a friendly competition environment and encourage active participation.

The 41st Chinese Sports Conference has planned 18 events including softball, billiards, table tennis, bowling, shooting, volleyball, golf, wrestling, basketball, track and field, celebrity race, children’s painting, folk culture, family fun competitions, tug-of-war, badminton, tennis, and Pickleball, among others. While the softball tournament has already begun, registration is open for all other events, welcoming enthusiastic participation or on-site spectators.

The coordinators of each event introduced specific competition details: Yang Zhichao, the billiards tournament coordinator, noted a doubling in participant numbers this year, with half being Chinese competitors. To elevate the competition standards and exchanges, professional players from Taiwan, Jiang Shuijing, Wang Wanling, and the 6th-ranked South Korean player Seo Seoa, will participate. The three professional players will attend the opening ceremony on May 30 for live performances and technical guidance.

The shooting competition coordinator, Hu Zhijing, mentioned a community safety seminar on June 15 and the official competition on June 22, including pistol, rifle, and skeet shooting categories, focusing on both competition and community education, emphasizing gun safety and lawful use.

Song Zhen, the basketball tournament coordinator, stated active registration this year with a total of 22 teams participating, including 5 women’s teams, setting a new historical record. The matches will be intensive throughout the day, requiring a large number of volunteers, urging the community to actively register and support.

Lai Hongyi and Wang Wanjun, the coordinators of the track and field event, mentioned a total of 109 age-group categories this year, requiring over 50 volunteers with an expected participation of over 300 individuals, hoping for more registrations for the race.
