4-year-old girl from Shaanxi dies after being stung by bees, father says she just started kindergarten.

Recently, a 4-year-old girl in Yongping Town, Yongshou County, Xianyang, Shaanxi, was stung by bees and died after being sent to the hospital. The girl’s father tearfully lamented that she was their only child, saying, “She just started kindergarten and now she’s gone.” On May 10, the incident sparked heated discussions, with the phrase “Dad tearfully said she just started kindergarten and now she’s gone” trending at the top of social media platforms.

According to reports from Da Wan News, the 4-year-old girl usually lived with her grandfather in the countryside and had just started kindergarten this year. Her parents work in Xi’an, Shaanxi.

On May 8, Mr. Ma, the girl’s father, said that on May 3, he received a call from home informing him that his daughter had been stung by bees. He hurried back home, only to find that his daughter had tragically passed away. The hospital diagnosis revealed that the bee sting had caused toxic shock leading to her death.

Mr. Ma stated that around 4:30 PM that day, his daughter was stung by bees at home, with a bee farm located about a kilometer away from their village.

“We only had her as a child, 4 years and 18 days old, just started kindergarten this year, and she’s gone just like that. Her mother is devastated,” Mr. Ma said. “It’s been 5 days since it happened, and still, no one has given me a reasonable explanation.”

In response, an official from the Yongping Town government told Ji Mu News on May 9 that the child had already been buried by the family on the night of the incident. The next day, the family reported the case to the police. However, the police responded that they couldn’t find anyone criminally responsible, so they couldn’t file a case. The official also mentioned that the child had been buried, preventing further investigation such as an autopsy or forensic examination, and there were no bee venom samples available for testing. At present, it is uncertain whether the girl was stung by domesticated bees or wild bees.

Many netizens expressed sympathy, with comments like “It’s so heart-wrenching” and “I can’t bear to read such news.” Some netizens even looked up the first aid measures for bee stings, stating, “The thorn should be promptly removed, the wound cleaned, and immediate medical attention sought. Let’s hope such incidents won’t happen again.”
