4 People Killed in Mudslide Triggered by Heavy Rain in Yunnan’s Nujiang

Due to the continuous heavy rainfall, on the evening of August 13th, landslides and mudslides occurred in Duduoluo Village, Gan Township, Lushui City, Nujiang Prefecture, Yunnan Province, resulting in damage to many houses.

According to China Central Television (CCTV) report, one person has been confirmed dead and there are others who are missing. As of 10:00 on August 14th, 23 people from 10 households have been relocated from the severely affected areas.

However, according to local netizens, “the number of casualties has already reached 4.” One relative of a victim said, “The video they showed is from my uncle’s house! My uncle is gone, grandparents are gone, we rushed back overnight.”

According to the description provided by the relative of the victim, on the day of the incident, “It was raining heavily in the morning, my dad called my uncle to come to our house to take shelter! He said it was nothing the last time this happened, and he was still cooking! Who would have thought it would turn out like this! My uncle sacrificed himself to save our grandparents at home, and the three children only escaped by hiding on the second floor.”
