4.3 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Qingcheng District, Qingyuan City, Guangdong with Strong Tremors

On the evening of June 23 (Monday), a 4.3 magnitude earthquake struck Qingcheng District, Qingyuan City, Guangdong Province with a depth of 10 kilometers. The earthquake was strongly felt and had a wide impact area. Cities and regions including Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Foshan, Shenzhen, Zhongshan, Dongguan, Zhuhai, Shunde, Zhaoqing, Huizhou, Shanwei, and Huiyang all experienced the tremors.

According to the China Earthquake Networks Center, the earthquake officially measured 4.3 magnitude and occurred at 18:48 on June 23 in Qingcheng District, Qingyuan City, Guangdong Province. The epicenter was located at 23.62 degrees north latitude and 113.17 degrees east longitude.

The villages within 5 kilometers of the earthquake zone include Luwu Village, Dajiling, Yingju Village, Hebain Village, Ludingkeng, Lu Yi Village, Lu Er Village, Yingju Ying Er Village, Chiling, and Fan Gai Kang. Towns within 20 kilometers include Yuantan Town, Longtang Town, and Zhouxin Street.

The epicenter was 14 kilometers from Qingcheng District, 20 kilometers from Qingshen District, 25 kilometers from Huadu District, 43 kilometers from Conghua District, 47 kilometers from Fugang County, 14 kilometers from Qingyuan City, and 55 kilometers from Guangzhou City.

A circulating video online showed strong tremors, furniture shaking, and the ground cracking.
