20th Anniversary of Bethpage Air Show Grandly Returns to Jones Beach, Long Island

This weekend, the annual Bethpage Air Show will be held at Jones Beach on Long Island, celebrating its 20th anniversary. The event will feature even more spectacular aerial acrobatics performances than previous years, attracting an estimated 300,000 attendees.

The Bethpage Air Show will take place on May 25th and 26th, from 10 AM to 3 PM each day, and admission is free to the public. George Gorman, the Regional Director of Long Island State Parks, mentioned that in addition to the thrilling aerial displays, there will be plenty of activities on the ground such as flight simulators and helicopter exhibits.

2024 marks the 20th anniversary of the Bethpage Air Show, as well as the 95th anniversary of Jones Beach State Park and the 100th anniversary of the New York State Parks and Long Island State Park Commission. The U.S. Navy Blue Angels flight demonstration team will participate once again, marking their 10th appearance at the show and showcasing a variety of classic Long Island-manufactured aircraft.

Other participating units include the U.S. Army Golden Knights parachute team, the U.S. Air Force A-10 demonstration team, and the U.S. Navy F-35C demonstration team. Performers such as aerobatic pilot Mike Goulian and the Skytypers aerial typing team will also be featured.

Attendees can also enjoy virtual reality experiences, video games, and simulator activities on-site to gain a deeper understanding of the U.S. military strength. Additionally, to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the air show, 30,000 commemorative posters will be given away.

Organizers remind visitors that while admission is free, parking fees are $10. It is recommended for attendees to prepare for sun protection in advance and bring essential items like earplugs, sun umbrellas, and an ample supply of food and drinks. As there are many regulations on the beach, including the prohibition of kites and drones, organizers hope that visitors will follow the rules and have a safe and enjoyable weekend vacation.
