2025 Exchange Gala to Honor Marriage Excellence, Promote Chinese Cultural Heritage

The International Distinguished People’s Society and the World Taiwanese Association held a press conference on the evening of April 22 (Tuesday) at the I-Double Business Center in Cupertino, announcing the annual “2025 Exchange and Social Gathering” to be held on May 17 (Saturday) from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the South Bay Overseas Education Center. This event will feature the special “Love Award” to recognize couples celebrating 50, 40, 30, 20, and 10 years of marriage, highlighting the values of family and overseas Taiwanese camaraderie.

The exchange and social gathering will offer a diverse range of activities, including music and dance performances, the Love Award presentation, Chinese cultural exhibition booths featuring calligraphy and traditional painting, free medical consultations, banking and insurance advisory services, and introductions to health products, combining traditional culture with practical information. The performance lineup will include ethnic dances, Indian dances, social dances, singing, and the highly acclaimed Hulusi music performance, concluding with a lively karaoke dance party.

The highlighting feature of the event, the “Love Award,” will honor 10 couples celebrating 50, 40, 30, and 20 years of marriage, with each age category accepting up to two pairs. Registration is now open, and the organizers encourage eligible couples to actively participate, witnessing the continuation of love and the exemplification of family values.

The press conference, hosted by the Honorary President of the World Taiwanese Association, Wu Yuping, expressed special thanks to the Overseas Chinese Affairs Commissioner Wu Yiming and his wife for their venue support. The organizers sincerely invite friends and relatives from the overseas Taiwanese community to join the exchange and social gathering on May 17, collectively witnessing the endurance of love and the spirit of the Taiwanese community.

The atmosphere that evening was warm and grand, with the Chairman of the Taiwan Chinese Association, Lin Chih-kuo, and his wife, Fu Yuluan, personally attending shortly after their arrival in the United States, demonstrating strong support for the event.

Chairman Lin emphasized the significance of traditional Chinese culture, especially in family life and marriage. He felt honored to participate in such a meaningful event and reflected on the history of overseas Chinese, from their early ventures overseas to their invaluable contributions to Taiwan’s development. He shared his dedication to serving the overseas Taiwanese community and hoped to continue promoting unity and mutual assistance among global Chinese communities.

Mrs. Fu Yuluan expressed sentimentally that March 29 of this year marked their 45th wedding anniversary with Chairman Lin, a special day as their three children also chose to marry on the same date, symbolizing the continuity of family values. She expressed her anticipation for celebrating their golden anniversary with everyone in five years.

The President of the North American Chapter of the International Distinguished People’s Society, Wu Muye, shared that after years in the semiconductor industry, he had handed over family affairs entirely to his wife, Wu Yuping. He pledged full support to his wife’s participation in community activities, emphasizing the organization’s commitment as a non-profit to continue serving the community and spreading positive energy.

Vice President and President of the West American Chapter, Nie Jian, stated that this year’s exchange and social gathering coincided with Mother’s Day, adding to the warmth of the occasion. Celebrating his own 40th wedding anniversary this year, he hoped the event would bring together both new and old overseas compatriots, promoting communication and mutual assistance.

The President of the San Jose Distinguished People’s Society, Zhou Weijun, mentioned that the event, amalgamating performances, awards, and a sumptuous luncheon, was a collaborative effort by President Wu and various chapters.

The President of the Silicon Valley Distinguished People’s Society, Wu Wenyi, highlighted the region as a place of happiness and longevity, with many loving long-term partners. She encouraged more couples to bravely step onto the stage, becoming role models in the community.

The President of the San Francisco Peace Distinguished People’s Society, Liang Xiaozhen, expressed deep honor in being a co-organizer of the event. She aspired to promote noble character and ethical virtues, fostering more positive influences.

Lastly, Chairman Lin Chih-kuo announced that the Taiwan Chinese Association would donate $1,000 to support the event and presented a crystal trophy to President Wu Muye as a special gesture of appreciation.
