2 Chinese Nationals Found Dead in Cambodia, 7 Suspects All Chinese Citizens

Two Chinese citizens went missing at a hotel in Sihanoukville Province, Cambodia on July 18 last month, only to be found days later dumped in a river. Currently, seven suspects, all Chinese nationals, have been arrested in connection with the case.

On July 23, the police discovered the bodies of the two victims in Bassac River in a village in Gotong district of Kampong Speu Province, confirming that they had been killed by others and disposed of in the river.

Law enforcement authorities from various regions collaborated in the investigation to identify the suspects and their hideouts. On July 31 and August 2, they arrested seven suspects: REN JIASHENG (36 years old), JIANG BAO (48 years old), YE YIYONG (age unknown), HUANG YONG (39 years old), XIONG QANG HAI (40 years old), CHAN XING (32 years old), LAI GUO QIANG (48 years old), all of whom are Chinese males.

The Criminal Police Department has transferred these seven suspects to the Sihanoukville Provincial Police.

This is the second recent case in Cambodia involving the deaths of Chinese citizens. In the early hours of July 31, a 24-year-old Chinese man arrived in Phnom Penh from Hong Kong and was found dead on the outskirts of Phnom Penh City after just five hours. Many Chinese netizens expressed concerns, stating, “Cambodia is not scary, but the Chinese in Cambodia are.” “When going abroad, the scariest thing is our fellow Chinese speakers.” “Chinese people are going crazy in Southeast Asia.” “Money above all else has ruined generations of people!”

Please note that incidents like these can be distressing and alarming, and it is vital to remain cautious and vigilant when traveling or residing in foreign countries.
