16-year-old student wins gold, Taiwan achieves excellent results again at Silicon Valley Invention Exhibition.

The Taiwan Invention Association recently led a team of 30 exhibitors with 24 entries to participate in the 2025 Silicon Valley International Invention Festival in the United States, winning 14 gold, 9 silver, and 1 bronze medals. Taiwan’s gold medal count ranked highest among all participating countries, and they also received several major awards, making them one of the biggest winners of the event.

The Silicon Valley International Invention Festival 2025 took place from August 8th to 10th at the Santa Clara Convention Center. Organized by the International Federation of Inventors Associations (IFIA), this event originated from the Pittsburgh International Invention Exhibition founded in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania by InventHelp in 1984. Since 2018, the event has been held in Silicon Valley, serving as a crucial platform for international companies to showcase innovative achievements and expand into overseas markets. This year’s exhibition attracted over 400 inventions from 25 countries, covering fields such as medical technology, environmental protection, smart living, and engineering design.

Taiwan’s award-winning entries this year included the “Yenmei Club” (Natural Beauty® Hyaluronic Acid Ampoule) from Qiaoyi International Corporation, which won a gold medal and the WIPO World Intellectual Property Organization International Award for its patented formula and innovative packaging technology; “Negative Ion Health Glasses” from Kangli Global Co., Ltd., which combined optical and health technologies to win a gold medal and the festival’s Semi Grand Award; “GUV UV Sterilization Tunnel” from Wangji Light Beam International Company, which utilized high-efficiency ultraviolet disinfection technology to earn a gold medal and the International Innovation Invention Grand Award from Croatia; and “Dr.Foot Regenerated Carbon Fiber Orthotic Insole & AI Measurement Fitting System” from Dart Fu Technology Co., Ltd., which integrated eco-friendly materials and artificial intelligence to receive a gold medal and the International Innovation Invention Grand Award from the National Research Council of Thailand.

Notably, 16-year-old Taiwanese student Liao Chenyi won gold for her “Pull-Brake and Weigh Luggage” invention, and also received a special award from the event. She also showcased the “Invisible Rain Canopy Device” inspired by her father assisting her grandmother in getting in and out of the car on rainy days, conducting small-scale experiments at home. Liao expressed to Epoch Times that winning the award holds significant meaning for her, expressing gratitude for her parents’ support and the recognition from the organizers, viewing it as motivation to continue creating, improving, and pursuing her dreams.

Deputy Chief Zhu Yongchang from the Taipei Office in San Francisco praised the exceptional performance of the Taiwan team at the international invention exhibition in the United States over the years. He mentioned that the exhibition not only serves as a competition but also as a crucial platform for promoting Taiwanese creativity in North America, facilitating exchanges with investors and licensing companies, and presenting opportunities for East-West technological interactions.

Chang Chia-chu, Chairperson of the Taiwan Invention Association, emphasized that the outstanding achievements of the delegation not only signify the victory in the number of medals but also international recognition of Taiwan’s research and development capabilities, patent layout, and market potential. Several award-winning entries have commercial feasibility and are expected to collaborate with international enterprises and expand into overseas markets.

She stressed that by participating in international invention exhibitions, it not only enhances Taiwan’s image as a technological powerhouse but also secures more opportunities for international cooperation and investment for startups and research teams.

During the exhibition, the Taiwanese delegation actively interacted with representatives from various countries. Apart from technical exchanges, preliminary discussions were also held on future collaboration in research and development, patent licensing, and brand marketing. Multiple international judges highlighted that Taiwan’s entries exhibit creativity, practicality, and promising market applications, making them one of the most dynamic teams at this year’s exhibition. ◇
