16-year-old student from Guangdong develops carrier rocket? Impressive resume sparks controversy and is withdrawn.

Recently, a WeChat public account post titled “Resume of (16-year-old) Teenager Leading Member of Technology Research Studio” has been widely reposted by many self-media platforms, sparking heated discussions among netizens.

“Design of Pneumatic Extrusion Engineering Scheme,” “Published several articles in national periodicals, designed the ‘Explorer One’ series of carrier rocket plans,” “Selected as a senior level professional” – astonishingly, a high school student aged only 16 has achieved this series of accomplishments.

Many netizens have raised questions in the face of these dazzling “scientific research achievements”: “Achieving senior level in high school, surpassing even the teachers.” “Is this senior level title certified by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security? Without work experience and inadequate education qualifications.” “Is this organization compliant? Never heard of it.”

According to Jiemu News, the public account that first released related information is named “Lixi Youth Science Research Activities Horn.” Its introduction states, “The studio was formerly the research team of Liwan School of Guangdong Experimental Middle School affiliated with the China Association for Science and Technology, founded on May 30, 2023. On September 15, 2024, the Youth Technology Research Studio was established and reported to the China Association for Science and Technology. It is currently not registered with relevant civil affairs departments and is expected to be completed by February 2025.”

Within the post released by the studio, detailed information about this “16-year-old high school senior” is provided.

The article states, “He Mou, male, born on December 28, 2008 in Guangzhou, Guangdong, currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Engineer of the Youth Technology Research Studio of the China Association for Science and Technology, a researcher at Liwan School of Guangdong Experimental Middle School, a member of the China Astronautical Society, a member of the China Biological Engineering Society, and a member of the China Mechanical Engineering Society. He has already published several national level journal papers and was awarded a senior professional title in January 2024.”

However, according to relevant regulations of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of the Communist Party of China, in the assessment of senior and junior professional titles in natural and engineering research fields, applicants are required not only to possess strong research capabilities and extensive research experience but also strict requirements on education qualifications and work experience. Generally, a bachelor’s degree or higher education and a certain amount of work experience are needed.

Furthermore, regarding the mentioned “Explorer One” carrier rocket in the post, the only related information available is about the “Explorer One China Technology City Star” commercial sub-orbital carrier rocket launched at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in 2019. At the age of 11 in 2019, there is no information available indicating He Mou’s involvement in the development of the “Explorer One” rocket.

Additionally, through a search on Zhiwang, no papers by He Mou or Li Mou could be found published, indicating that the information regarding the publication of several national level journal papers in the post cannot be verified.

According to The Paper News, an interview was conducted with Guangdong Experimental Middle School Liwan School, where He Mou graduated. A teacher from the school stated that He Mou is indeed a graduate of the third year of junior high school this year and is currently studying the first year of high school at a private school in Panyu, Guangzhou. The position of “researcher at Liwan School of Guangdong Experimental Middle School” mentioned in the resume has never existed at the school.

As per the teacher’s understanding of He Mou, He Mou does indeed have an interest in researching subjects related to science and mathematics, and his conduct has been without issue. The incident involving his resume might simply be a result of fun and not malicious. He Mou comes from an ordinary family, and his parents are unaware of this matter. The teacher hopes that everyone will stop sensationalizing this event.

According to previous reports by The Paper News, on a webpage labeled “Copyright of China Association for Science and Technology,” a middle school student named He Mou, who claims to be studying at Panyu Affiliated Middle School of Southern College in Guangzhou, stated in the work experience section that he became the “Senior Responsible Person of the Youth Technology Research Studio” and claimed to be the “founder, responsible person, and chief engineer” of the studio. According to the webpage, He Mou was born in December 2008 and is from Hubei Province.

The introduction on the “Tech Workers’ Home” webpage mentions that the site is operated by Zhongke Science Industry Beijing Science and Technology Co., Ltd., established in January 2017, a fully-owned subsidiary of China Science and Technology Press Co., Ltd.

On the afternoon of the 14th, personnel from the office of the China Association for Science and Technology stated that it is currently unclear why the “Tech Workers’ Home” website released He Mou’s resume.

Staff members of the operating entity of “Tech Workers’ Home,” Zhongke Science Industry Beijing Science and Technology Co., Ltd., also stated that the website is a subsidiary of China Science and Technology Press Co., Ltd. However, the reason behind the outrageous resume of He Mou is also unclear. The staff member mentioned that based on the situation reflected online, He Mou’s resume is fabricated.

On the 14th of November, personnel from the office of the China Association for Science and Technology stated that there is no such entity as the “Youth Technology Research Studio” under their association, and there is no possibility of awarding a senior professional title to it. Another staff member from the Youth Science and Technology Center of the China Association for Science and Technology also confirmed that no “Youth Technology Research Studios” have been established and that they have never heard of the 16-year-old director named “He Mou.”

In the afternoon of the 14th, the webpage of “Tech Workers’ Home” that posted He Mou’s resume has been deleted. Around 8 PM on the 14th, the “Tech Workers’ Home” webpage also became inaccessible.
