Kevin Bacon experienced the frustration of having a package lost in the mail, not just once, but three times within a month. On October 16th, Kevin Bacon shared on his Instagram video the strange journey that his most cherished clothes had been on over the past month.
The Hollywood star is currently working in Ireland. To make his travels easier, he decided to send a box of his everyday clothes ahead. The box was sent from the United States on September 26th, and thus began an unexpected journey.
Kevin Bacon revealed that the package ended up in Israel instead of Ireland, not just once, but three times. The English words for Ireland and Israel differ by just a few letters, but in reality, the two countries are approximately 4,000 kilometers apart.
The box of clothes was sent from New York State to Memphis on September 26th. It then made its way to France and arrived in Germany around September 28th, before being mistakenly rerouted to Israel instead of Ireland. It was sent back from Israel on October 3rd, reached France on October 4th, but was sent back to Israel again. On October 5th, it was sent to Germany from Israel, only to be returned to Israel on October 6th, without ever reaching Ireland.
By October 10th, the clothes had made their way back to France, and on October 11th, they arrived in England. They left the UK on October 11th and finally made it to Ireland, but then got stuck there for 5 days, with the courier company informing Kevin Bacon that they could not deliver the package. Nearly a month after it was sent, Kevin still did not have his clothes back.
In the video, Kevin Bacon expressed his confusion and frustration at the package being stuck somewhere with no way to reach customer service for assistance.
Against the backdrop of a beach sunset, Kevin Bacon narrated the whole ordeal with a sense of resignation. While he did not explicitly mention the logistics company responsible for the mishap, he hinted at their name rhyming with “bread ex”.
What made the situation even more poignant was that the box did not contain just any clothes, but the ones Kevin Bacon had been wearing since the 1990s. He emphasized that while he could buy new clothes, these held sentimental value for him. “What I want is that box of clothes. They are special to me as they are from the 90s, like old boots, jeans, and hats,” he said.
Interestingly, Kevin Bacon is well-known for a game called “Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon”, where players connect him to other actors through films in six or fewer steps. This time, it seems his clothes took many more steps to arrive at their intended destination.
Kevin Bacon rose to fame with the 1984 film “Footloose” and has since starred in numerous movies such as “Apollo 13” and “Mystic River”. He has been married to actress Kyra Sedgwick since 1988 and also forms the musical duo “The Bacon Brothers” with his brother Michael.
In the concluding remarks of the video, Kevin Bacon pondered, “Will I ever get these clothes back? It’s starting to get cold here.”
