Taiwan’s Foreign Minister Jaushieh Joseph Wu delivered a speech at the Warsaw Security Forum on the 13th, emphasizing the promotion of Taiwan as a reliable partner for Europe’s reindustrialization and highlighting the “Taiwan Model” as a key pillar for Europe’s pursuit of strategic autonomy.
Minister Wu was once again invited to Poland by the Casimir Pulaski Foundation on the 13th to speak at the 13th Warsaw Security Forum under the theme “Taiwan Model: A Reliable Partner for Europe’s Reindustrialization”.
He stressed that Taiwan is the most reliable democratic partner for Europe in promoting reindustrialization and safeguarding economic security. Taiwan-EU cooperation contributes to Europe’s establishment of supply security, technological security, and value security, serving as a foundation for Europe’s pursuit of strategic autonomy.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan), “This forum marks the Foreign Minister’s second invitation to deliver a special speech since his first public address at the forum last year. More than a hundred attendees from Poland and other like-minded countries, eminent figures, academic circles, civil society representatives, and media, were present.”
Minister Wu stated that Taiwan is a key player in the global semiconductor, electronics, and precision manufacturing supply chains and has high complementarity with Europe in industrial machinery, automotive engineering, chemical engineering, and design fields. The “Weimar Triangle” countries, including the major industrial centers of France, Germany, and Poland, are simultaneously facing Russian defense threats and Chinese economic security challenges.
In comparison with the “China Model” that prioritizes dominance over mutual benefit, Minister Wu highlighted that Taiwan not only offers technology and expertise, but also builds trust on shared values of democracy, freedom, human rights, and rule of law, which constitute the essence of the “Taiwan Model”.
He further pointed out that Taiwan-EU industrial cooperation has been concretely implemented in various parts of Europe, including investments by TSMC in Germany, GlobalWafers in Italy, and Hon Hai in advanced packaging in France, all aimed at creating jobs, passing down expertise, and strengthening the industrial ecology in Europe.
“Taiwan is currently promoting the establishment of the ‘TEEMA Technology Park’ in Poland, bringing Taiwan’s industrial strength and complete ecosystem into the core of European industry to foster cooperation in electric vehicles, smart cities, artificial intelligence, and other fields.”
Minister Wu noted that these initiatives not only serve as an important platform for Europe’s reindustrialization but also lay the foundation for Taiwan and Europe to jointly participate in the reconstruction of Ukraine, transforming shared values into tangible cooperative outcomes.
In conclusion, Minister Wu stated that since taking office as Foreign Minister two and a half years ago, he has visited Europe eight times and witnessed the continued deepening of Taiwan-EU partnership. AI represents a historic industrial revolution, with Taiwan at its core. Taiwan hopes to become a long-term partner that Europe can truly trust, creating a prosperous, secure, and free future based on shared values and complementary advantages.
