Georgia Six Flags Roller Coaster Accident: 1 Dead, Multiple Injured

On October 12, an accident occurred on the roller coaster at Six Flags Over Georgia in Georgia, USA, leading to the death of a man and injuries to several others.

The amusement park is located in the outskirts of Atlanta. Officials have yet to confirm the cause of death of the victim and have not provided details on the reasons for the injuries of the others. The major crimes unit of Cobb County Police Department is currently conducting an investigation.

Six Flags Over Georgia issued a statement expressing deep sorrow over the incident that took place in the park that day. The park also stated that they would fully cooperate with the authorities’ investigation.

Aerial footage from WXIA showed that other passengers were being evacuated from the Goliath roller coaster. Witnesses reported seeing a man fall from the roller coaster, according to WXIA.

According to the official Six Flags website, the Goliath roller coaster lasts 210 seconds with a maximum speed of 70 miles per hour (about 113 kilometers per hour) and a height of 200 feet (approximately 61 meters). The website describes the 3.5-minute journey as allowing passengers to “experience sharp turns, and leap over towering hills.”

Just about two weeks ago on September 29, Six Flags Magic Mountain in California, a part of Six Flags Entertainment Corporation, announced the permanent closure of its famous X2 roller coaster. This decision came after the park reached a settlement with the family of a 22-year-old man who tragically passed away after riding the X2 coaster in 2022.

Six Flags Entertainment Corporation operates amusement parks in various states across the United States. In March of this year, the company stated that they would be operating 34 parks in 23 locations in North America by 2026.
