15 “Natural Beauty” Car Models revealed, with three Toyota cars on the list

Some people prioritize technical performance when buying a car, diving deep into studying mechanical structures, while others are more interested in the exterior design of the new vehicle, hoping to feel an instant impact at first sight. There are also many who wish for their beloved cars to combine outstanding performance with eye-catching looks.

In the automotive world, there are some car models that possess innate beauty, attracting attention with their stunning appearance since their day of production. Of course, there are also cars that undergo transformations to achieve the “ugly duckling turning into a swan” change.

Recently, “U.S. News & World Report” selected 15 outstandingly designed car models representing different submarkets, equipped with various types of power systems and with a wide price range. Regardless of their origins, if these cars make it to this list, they are definitely “beauty icons.” However, this list not only focuses on exterior design but also considers the value for money factor, hence why models like McLaren and Ferrari were not included in the selection.

This list is not in any particular order. For the different editors of the magazine, each selected car has its own charm, and which one is the most beautiful depends on personal aesthetic preferences. After all, as the saying goes, “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.”

Here are the 15 “innately beautiful” car models selected by “U.S. News & World Report,” with three of them coming from Toyota.

If there is a car on this list that perfectly embodies the story of the “ugly duckling turning into a swan,” it must be the Toyota Prius. Its original design was somewhat strange, then it became unremarkable, and later it became quite peculiar until the new look of the 2023 redesign made people exclaim, “Is this really a Prius?”

This kind of design usually only appears in concept cars at car shows and typically does not enter production. However, in a sense, it is also a typical example of “beautiful on the outside” – the interior design cannot match the stunning exterior. Despite its comfortable interior and excellent craftsmanship, the style seems somewhat dull.

The Prius offers two power systems: a conventional hybrid version with an acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in 7.2 seconds, and a plug-in hybrid version with an acceleration time reduced to 6.6 seconds. In terms of fuel efficiency, the conventional hybrid version performs well, with an estimated city fuel consumption of about 49 to 57 miles per gallon and highway fuel consumption of about 50 to 56 miles per gallon. The plug-in hybrid version has slightly lower values but provides a pure electric range of 38 to 44 miles. Additionally, as a hybrid model, it also has a spacious cargo space.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 has been successful in the market for five consecutive model years, and its outstanding exterior design plays a significant role. The design of the Ioniq 5 draws inspiration from the 1975 Volkswagen Golf and Hyundai’s first self-developed model, the 1975 Pony, designed by the famous Italian designer Giorgetto Giugiaro.

From an exterior standpoint, Hyundai added several distinct lines and unique pixelated details to the Ioniq 5 body, giving a futuristic touch to a design style half a century old. The interior design is modern and straightforward, with a square shape providing significant space advantages, even for larger adult passengers, ensuring a spacious cabin.

Moreover, the 2026 Ioniq 5 received the “Top Safety Pick+” certification from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

After 25 years, the 2026 Honda Prelude returns to the showroom. The new Prelude features a low, wide, and smoothly flowing design. While opinions on its visual impact vary from certain angles, it is quite charming from most perspectives.

The main criticism from car enthusiasts is that while the Prelude looks impressive, its power system may not fully support this sporty image. The car only offers one power configuration: a 200-horsepower hybrid system similar to the Civic Hybrid and Civic Si, paired with a single-speed automatic transmission. However, Honda has equipped the Prelude with suspensions and braking systems borrowed from the high-performance Civics Type R, meaning it not only possesses outstanding aesthetics but also impressive dynamic handling capabilities.

The Toyota GR86 is relatively affordable but draws inspiration from more expensive European sports cars in its exterior design. The powerful rear wheel arches and “big mouth” intake grille give the vehicle an aggressive vibe, while the sculpted side lines outline a graceful body profile. The GR86 responds actively to acceleration, and as expected from a pure sports car, it offers agile handling and driving pleasure.

After three years of production halt, the Toyota Land Cruiser made a comeback in 2024 with a completely new design. Since then, this off-road vehicle has not undergone significant changes. For the 2027 model year, a new paint color option is introduced (for an additional cost), and the base model “Land Cruiser 1958” switches from rectangular headlights to charming round headlights.

The Land Cruiser’s square body design provides excellent headroom, ample legroom in the two rows of fabric seats, and although its cargo space is not the largest in its class, it is sufficient to accommodate various items. All models come with the same hybrid power system, showcasing impressive fuel efficiency among similarly sized luxury midsize SUVs.

As another flagship model from Rivian after the R1S, the 2027 Rivian R2 can be considered a more popular choice in the market. It perfectly inherits the family’s iconic high-value appearance, but with a more compact body proportion, giving it a unique sense of harmony.

Not only does the R2 stand out in appearance, but it also boasts considerable strength. While the body size and performance parameters are reduced compared to the R1S, the price is more affordable.

Despite its compact size, the R2 contains strong power (offering 350, 450, and 656 horsepower versions), with a considerable single-charge range (ranging from 275 to 345 miles depending on configuration and tire choice).

Recognizing the attractiveness of the Genesis G80 model, Genesis no longer relies solely on “high value for money” as a selling point. While the price has increased, last year’s facelift and upgrade to the G80 introduced better front headlights, new front and rear bumpers, novel wheel hub designs, and a refreshed dashboard. The flowing roofline and dynamic body contours give the car an elegant grand tourer style, while the luxurious and comfortable interior design is truly captivating.

Despite the price increase, this luxury midsize sedan is still worth its value; while the two engine options’ performance may not be staggering, they are more than sufficient. The standard all-wheel-drive system ensures the G80 maintains stable traction on icy or rainy surfaces.

The Kia K4 sedan adopts a fastback design, with some automotive media comparing it to some outstanding Citroën models from the 1970s. The sharp exterior light design gives the vehicle an aggressive appearance.

The interior of this car is equally appealing. The most eye-catching feature on the dashboard is the uniquely shaped steering wheel, while the rich list of standard equipment includes wireless smartphone connectivity, satellite radio, lane-keeping assistance, and adaptive cruise control. If you seek a stylish vehicle with a limited budget, the K4 is an ideal choice, priced well below other models on the list.

The Audi e-tron GT exudes a futuristic appeal, meaning it does not showcase flashy features like other American or Asian models in the same segment. The e-tron GT exudes a low-key European charm, radiating confidence and strength. However, its maximum range of 300 miles falls slightly behind some competitors.

The interior cabin is highly appealing, with exquisite craftsmanship and elegant design. Standard features include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, navigation system, 10.1-inch touchscreen, wireless device charging, Wi-Fi hotspot, and a 16-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system.

The Ford Bronco’s appeal lies in its design, drawing inspiration from the Tonka toy trucks owned by Americans in their childhood and reminiscent of the first-generation models (1966—1977) driven by earlier generations. It once again confirms an old saying, “Beauty lies in its inherent qualities and actual performance.”

The Bronco is one of the strongest off-road performers in its class, equipped with various off-road features as standard, including a part-time four-wheel-drive system, a dual-range gearbox with high and low gears, hill start assist, and hill descent control. Its front seats are comfortable and spacious, though rear space may feel slightly cramped, especially in the two-door version.

This car is hailed as the “American beauty.” Whether speeding on the highway or parked in a shopping mall parking lot, the bold design of the Chevrolet Corvette always turns heads; its sculpted body lines give it a unique appearance. The interior design is equally impressive, with excellent craftsmanship; after the redesign, the previously cluttered buttons on the center console were significantly streamlined, moved below the central screen, meaning you can now see the button locations before operating, without blindly fumbling around.

The car series offers a powerful powertrain lineup, and it delivers comfortable driving quality far exceeding people’s expectations for a sports car.

The Corvette’s relatively affordable price is a modern miracle in the automotive industry, as it should have a higher price tag given its aesthetics and robust performance.

As a station wagon, the V60 demonstrates excellent acceleration performance (0 to 60 mph in just 6.6 seconds). Its flowing, powerful body posture paired with the iconic “Thor’s Hammer” headlights makes it as charming as more expensive, sportier brands.

The interior, boasting a simple Scandinavian luxury style, invites you to take a seat and embark on a leisurely long journey. According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) estimates, its fuel efficiency stands at 23 miles per gallon in the city and 31 miles per gallon on the highway. Among the few available station wagons on the market, this data ranks it as an outstanding performer.

The Volvo V60 makes the list thanks to its unique Swedish genes, with the same attributes granting the Volvo XC90 a spot as well. The XC90 underwent a fresh exterior and interior design in its 2025 model. Its exterior exudes a refined and sophisticated air, radiating elegance from the inside out; the interior style is just as fashionable and sophisticated as the exterior.

The XC90 provides a smooth drive and a quiet cabin environment. Compared to other luxury midsize SUVs in the same category, its cargo space may be slightly tight. All models are equipped with a panoramic sunroof, letting natural light fill the cabin space.

The Ineos Grenadier Station Wagon (though the name carries “Station Wagon,” it is essentially a full-fledged SUV) earns its spot on the list due to the fondness of the editorial team of “U.S. News & World Report” for this rugged off-road type of vehicle, appreciating Grenadier’s design style reminiscent of vintage Land Rover models.

While the Grenadier is positioned as a rugged off-road beast, it does not sacrifice comfort.
