Mark Space-time: Dubai Airplane Mid-air Disaster Resurrected in 92 Seconds

On September 30th, a Boeing plane flying from Dubai, UAE to Tel Aviv, Israel, was attacked by the co-pilot with a fire axe. The co-pilot then pushed the nose of the plane downwards, causing it to dive at a speed approaching the sound barrier. In the cabin, over 170 passengers screamed in the midst of severe weightlessness. The aircraft was saved from the brink of disaster not by the pilot, but by a passenger. He mentioned that his knowledge of flying came solely from the documentary series “Air Disasters”. This incident has been classified as a terrorist attack.

Looking at this terrifying nosedive from an engineering perspective, one might wonder if the passengers could have still saved the plane if it had been an Airbus instead of a Boeing. Are there any similar cases in history where passengers have been instrumental in saving an aircraft under such circumstances?
