13 injured in bus rollover in Ankang, Shaanxi

On September 22, a bus rollover accident occurred in Ankang City, Shaanxi Province. According to official reports, there were a total of 18 people on board the bus (including the driver), with 13 people injured, including 2 with fractures. The injured individuals have been taken to a local hospital for treatment.

At 9:59 am on September 22, Bus Route 31 in Ankang City was heading from the city center towards Hengkou when it suddenly veered off the road and overturned into a drainage ditch.

Ankang Public Transport Heng Co., Ltd. stated that the incident resulted in 13 injuries onboard (including the driver), with 2 passengers sustaining fractures while the remaining 11 suffered minor injuries. The injured individuals are currently receiving treatment at the Third Hospital in Hanbin District.

On September 22, the Ankang City Transportation Bureau reported that Driver Chen was operating Bus Route 31 with license plate number Shan GOOO61D from the central city area towards Hengkou. The bus was carrying 18 people including the driver. When passing the Zhengying Avenue bus stop, the vehicle veered off the road, causing the right-side wheels to slip into the gutter, leading to the rollover of the bus, damage to the bus stop sign, and street lamp post.

The report stated that the preliminary assessment indicated that the cause of the accident was due to the driver suddenly feeling unwell, resulting in a momentary loss of consciousness and the subsequent driving accident.

One passenger recalled that during the incident, they tightly held onto the handrail and spun several times, feeling dizzy and nauseous. Afterwards, they assisted other trapped passengers to escape.

An eyewitness mentioned that the bus ended up in the drainage ditch, causing damage to a street lamp and the bus stop sign. Passersby helped to rescue the stranded passengers, and later, when the ambulance arrived, all individuals were safely evacuated.
