Tencent Version of QClaw Lobster Launched Only Half a Year Ago Announces Closure.

On September 24, Tencent’s QClaw team announced that due to business development adjustments, QClaw will officially cease operations at midnight on December 24, 2026. The Tencent version of the small lobster, QClaw, was only launched in March of this year and will operate for only about half a year from its launch to the announcement of its shutdown.

From September 24 onwards, new user registrations will be stopped, subscription service purchases and renewals will be halted, automatically renewed users will stop deductions automatically, registered and paid users can continue to use the service until shutdown, and refunds can be requested for unused subscriptions and points packages.

After midnight on December 24, apart from data backups and migration functions, all other QClaw features will be completely stopped. Users can backup data such as configurations, memories, Agent personalities, and conversation records locally or directly migrate to Tencent’s another product, WorkBuddy.

In addition, after QClaw shuts down, the data backup and migration window will be retained for 3 months. Starting from midnight on March 24, 2027, Tencent will delete user data except for information that needs to be retained by law.

It is worth noting that the discontinuation of QClaw did not happen suddenly. In July of this year, Tencent issued an internal organizational adjustment notice and had already transferred QClaw related businesses and some teams to the Cloud Product Six Department where WorkBuddy is located. Now, Tencent directly provides tools to migrate QClaw user data to WorkBuddy.

In March of this year, the AI intelligent body OpenClaw quickly gained popularity, prompting Tencent to start releasing its own related products. QClaw targeted individual users, enabling remote computer operations through WeChat and other means, assisting users in organizing files, executing tasks, and could also be used in office, creative, and development scenarios.

QClaw became one of the important products targeting ordinary users in Tencent’s “lobster” product matrix.

However, just a few months later, Tencent began to reorganize related products.

From the launch of QClaw in March, to the business adjustments in July, and now the announcement of its shutdown in December, Tencent has made significant changes to its layout of AI intelligent body products within half a year.

Currently, Tencent has not disclosed the total number of registered users, paid users, or the specific reasons for the shutdown of QClaw.

After announcing the shutdown, the official announcement from QClaw did not mention whether the product will continue to provide services in other forms, but instead redirected existing users to WorkBuddy.

For users who have purchased services, this adjustment first involves the use of remaining services and refunds. For users with a large amount of configurations, memories, and conversation data, Tencent offers data backup and migration options.
