In 2020, Tavia Yeung disclosed on a Mainland Chinese variety show “Wife’s Romantic Trip” that she was diagnosed with severe ankylosing spondylitis, a chronic autoimmune disease also referred to as “undead cancer”, just four months after getting married. At that time, she couldn’t bend over, lie flat, or even breathe without excruciating pain. Sometimes her body would become completely immobilized, leading to standing while sleeping. Doctors warned her that the disease could worsen, potentially resulting in lifelong paralysis and significant challenges in fertility.
Despite facing this sudden illness, Tavia Yeung’s biggest concern was not her own health but the thought of burdening her newlywed husband, Him Law, with her condition. As they sought medical advice together, a doctor gave them seven words: “A joyful heart is good medicine.” They shifted their mindset, choosing to embrace life with positivity and optimism rather than dwelling on pain and suffering.
Years later, Tavia Yeung miraculously became pregnant with her eldest daughter, Hera Law. Astonishingly, the chronic spine pain that had plagued her for so long vanished completely during her pregnancy and never recurred. Subsequently, she successfully gave birth to her second daughter, Kady Law, and son, Morton Law.
Regarding this miraculous phenomenon, obstetricians at the time speculated that it could be attributed to changes in the woman’s immune system, hormone secretion, and physical characteristics during pregnancy.
