On the afternoon of September 20th, a textile company in Shunde District, Foshan City, Guangdong Province, caught on fire, resulting in the death of 8 people and 1 person injured. This information was reported by Chinese state media.
According to a report on the Fujian Radio & Television Group’s TV news channel, the factory where the fire broke out housed several clothing dyeing and processing enterprises.
Witnesses reported that there were several factories inside the burning site, including clothing dyeing and denim processing facilities. One witness said that when the fire broke out, he was in a neighboring workshop and the fire spread through the shared wall, leading to power outages followed by thick smoke entering the area. The staff on the first floor had already evacuated, but those on the second floor, in a confined space, initially did not see any flames until they opened the door and encountered thick smoke and a strange smell.
The witness also mentioned that their workshop was a newly built iron shed and they did not hear any smoke alarm going off.
