Audi Sets New Record for Most Energy-Efficient Vehicle in History with the Debut of the All-New A2 e-tron

German car manufacturer Audi officially unveiled the new entry-level pure electric hatchback A2 e-tron on September 7th, emphasizing high energy efficiency. The official statement highlighted that the A2 e-tron can achieve a maximum range of 646 kilometers. The 140kW (approximately 190 horsepower) version, when equipped with the efficiency package, has a minimal energy consumption of only 12.8kWh per 100 kilometers, setting a new record for the highest energy efficiency in Audi’s production of electric vehicles. The starting price in the German market is 38,200 euros (approximately 44,360 dollars).

In terms of power and battery configuration, the A2 e-tron offers four power outputs of 125, 140, 170, and 240 kW, with three battery capacities of 52, 61, and 84 kWh, all models featuring rear-wheel drive.

The 170 kW version equipped with an 84 kWh battery can achieve a maximum range of 646 kilometers (approximately 401 miles); the battery supports fast charging of up to 183 kW direct current, taking about 29 minutes to charge from 10% to 80%.

The interior of the vehicle focuses on a flexible space layout under the compact body, equipped with an 11.9-inch Audi virtual cockpit plus digital instrument panel and a 12.8-inch MMI touch central touch screen, integrated with the Audi voice assistant powered by artificial intelligence (AI).

Furthermore, it supports Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), allowing direct power supply from the vehicle during camping; in markets like Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, it even supports Vehicle-to-Home (V2H), enabling the storage of power from the vehicle to be used in homes during power outages.

The new A2 e-tron will be available for order in Germany starting from September 10th, with the first batch of vehicles expected to be delivered from December. The model was developed by the German team and will be produced at the Audi Ingolstadt factory.

According to ElectricDrives.tv, Audi has confirmed that the starting price for the A2 e-tron in the UK market is 32,200 pounds, with pre-orders opening in October and the first batch of vehicles expected to be delivered in early 2027. This will also make the A2 e-tron the most affordable pure electric vehicle model from Audi in the UK market.
