Costco Quietly Shuts Down Online Third-Party Platform Costco Next

The American warehouse membership supermarket giant Costco has quietly closed its online third-party curated platform, Costco Next, and members are currently unable to access the brand zone on the platform.

At present, the Costco Next page on the official Costco website only has a brief notice stating that the platform has closed the storefront entrances of all brands; if members have any return or exchange needs or product warranty claims, they must directly contact the corresponding suppliers.

Costco Next was originally introduced as an exclusive benefit for members, allowing them to directly visit partner brand websites through this platform to purchase selected products and services at discounted prices. The collaborating brands included dozens of companies such as the well-known electronics brand Anker Electronics, Priority Bicycles, and Viking Culinary cookware. The sudden closure this time was quite unexpected, with no prior announcement.

According to a report by the American media outlet “USA TODAY,” Costco Next suddenly ceased its services “this week”; some members on the social platform Reddit also mentioned that they only found out about the platform being shut down after the service disappeared.

As of now, Costco has neither provided an explanation for the closure of this business nor disclosed the specific time of cessation.

It is worth noting that Costco Next did not show any clear signs of business decline before the closure. Costco’s Chief Financial Officer, Gary Millerchip, revealed during a third-quarter earnings conference call in May 2025 that in the three months ending on May 11, 2025, the quarterly sales of Costco Next were already equivalent to the annual sales of the fiscal year 2022. He also expressed the company’s excitement about new suppliers joining the platform.

The concept of Costco Next first emerged in 2016 and after several years of development, it evolved into its current model. The abrupt halt despite strong sales performance raises questions about the underlying reasons that are currently unknown.
