Tesla is set to hold the “Cybercab Launch Event” on Thursday (September 3rd) in Austin, Texas, in the United States to unveil the autonomous taxi Robotaxi.
The Chief Engineer of Cybercab, Eric Earley, announced on the X platform that the event will take place at 4:45 pm local time in downtown Austin. Cybercab is an all-electric vehicle designed specifically for Robotaxi, featuring a two-seater design without a steering wheel or traditional driver controls.
According to Tesla, Cybercab will gradually join the Robotaxi fleet to provide autonomous driving ride-sharing services.
This event by Tesla is quite special. From August 17th to 23rd, qualified Robotaxi passengers were given the opportunity to enter a lottery for a chance to attend the event in Austin through actual rides. The official rules stated that five individuals would be randomly selected to participate in the Austin launch event.
Currently, Tesla’s Robotaxi service is available in Austin, Dallas, Houston in Texas, as well as in Miami, Orlando, and Tampa in Florida.
Official information indicates that Cybercab is still a future addition to the local service. Tesla has mentioned that Cybercab has already entered production, with employee test rides starting in July at the Texas Gigafactory campus, and mass-produced vehicles have begun public road testing.
