The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) announced on Friday (28th) that they are currently recruiting members for the 5th Public Safety Advisory Committee, with the application deadline set for September 8th.
According to reports from the city news agency, the committee aims to recruit frequent Metro riders to assist in promoting a safer, more friendly, and equitable public transportation system.
Prospective committee members should have passenger experience or possess relevant professional knowledge in areas such as racial justice, fair transportation, public safety reform, law enforcement, victim rights, mental health, homelessness, and social services.
Metro also hopes to incorporate the perspectives of youth, women, the elderly, and persons with disabilities into the committee.
Selected members will serve a two-year term starting in 2027. The committee will convene physical meetings once a month and may increase community outreach, exchange activities, and subcommittee meetings as needed. Members may receive compensation for their time.
The application form can be obtained online and is available in both English and Spanish versions. Applications can be emailed to psac@metro.net or mailed to Los Angeles Metro, with “Public Safety Advisory Committee” clearly indicated, at One Gateway Plaza, Mail Stop 99-25, Los Angeles, CA 90012. For applications sent by mail, the postmark must be dated on or before September 8th. ◇
