Orange County Public Libraries (OC Public Libraries) are encouraging residents to apply for library cards during the month of September, known as “Library Card Sign-up Month,” to enjoy free resources and services.
This annual event aims to introduce the resources provided by local libraries and encourage people of all ages to apply for library cards.
In a statement, Orange County Public Libraries said, “September is a time to celebrate free access to resources for exploration and learning, benefiting everyone in the community. A library card is not only a back-to-school essential but also a tool for individuals of all ages to learn, create, and grow.”
Officials mentioned that having a library card allows borrowing books, e-books, and audiobooks, accessing digital learning platforms, and participating in free activities for children, teenagers, adults, and seniors.
Orange County Public Libraries also offer resources for early literacy, bilingual collections, storytimes, family homework help and guidance services, author meetings, cultural events, and other educational opportunities.
Residents can also borrow items such as sewing machines, telescopes, globes, gardening tools, and seeds, while utilizing Wi-Fi and other technology resources.
With a total of 29 branches, Orange County Public Libraries have a satellite branch at the Orangewood Children and Family Center, providing over 1.7 million items for users to borrow.
Residents can apply for library cards at any Orange County Public Libraries branch or online.
