Photo Collection: 2,000 Unpublished Photos of June 4th Incident (8)

This year marks the 37th anniversary of the “June 4th” incident. Epoch Times has exclusively obtained over two thousand never-before-seen historical photos of the “June 4th” event, shedding light on the years that the Chinese Communist Party has tried to cover up and erase.

In the spring and summer of 1989, a student democracy movement that shook the world ignited at Tiananmen Square in Beijing and quickly spread across China. Millions of students and citizens flooded the streets to peacefully and rationally express their opposition to corruption, and to demand democracy and freedom. However, the top leadership of the Chinese Communist Party secretly mobilized a large number of regular troops, launching a comprehensive crackdown on civilians with tanks and machine guns in the early hours of June 4th. According to unofficial estimates, the CCP shot and killed thousands to tens of thousands of people.

An official photographer who was present at the scene in that year meticulously documented this historical event, and the rolls of film he captured have been locked away for 37 years. In the twilight of his life, this elderly man entrusted these precious photos to Epoch Times for public disclosure, which include both color and black-and-white images, totaling over 2000. Recently, the CCP authorities have been threatening and harassing individuals they believe are associated with these photos, including Chinese and American citizens.

For 37 years, the CCP has continued to conceal and suppress the truth of the event, vilifying the peaceful demonstrations of students as “counter-revolutionary riots,” and long denying the fact that the military opened fire on civilians. However, history will not disappear due to censorship.

To fulfill the dying wish of this elderly man, Epoch Times is publicly releasing for the first time these 37-year-old “June 4th” photos in batches, guiding readers back to that heartbreaking historical scene, reminding the world not to forget the CCP’s bloody massacre of its own people. The CCP continues to intensify persecution and intimidation of innocent people today, including threatening Epoch Times staff not to publish these photos.
