10-year-old Japanese School Student in Shenzhen Stabbed to Death; Official Media Deletes Post, Public Mourns

On September 18, a 10-year-old boy studying at a Japanese school in Shenzhen was attacked by a man with a knife on his way to school, and tragically passed away the next morning, shocking the world. However, what is puzzling is that Chinese state media have been deleting related reports, covering up the school’s name, yet a large number of people spontaneously went to the school to offer flowers in mourning.

The attack has caused a major uproar in the Japanese political arena with both the ruling and opposition parties expressing deep anger. Analysts point out that this is the result of years of anti-foreign education and propaganda incited by the Chinese Communist Party.

Following the incident, several Chinese state media outlets reported on the attack but later deleted their posts. For example, Caixin, Ifeng, Yicai, and Global Times all chose to remove their reports.

Ifeng’s report on “Shenzhen Japanese School Elementary Student Attacked” was deleted, leaving behind “Foreign Ministry confirms: 10-year-old student at Shenzhen Japanese School stabbed.”

Yicai’s report on “Foreign Ministry: Student at Shenzhen Japanese School Stabbed, Case Under Investigation” was deleted.

Global Times’ report on “Foreign Ministry: Student at Shenzhen Japanese School Stabbed, Further Investigation Underway” was also removed.

Meanwhile, mourners spontaneously laid flowers in remembrance of the young victim, and circulating images online showed that the sign of the Shenzhen Japanese School had been covered.

In one image, someone wrote: “Child, sorry, from a person in Shenzhen,” and, “Feeling sad for the child, apologizing for absolute silence. A Chinese journalist.”

A video uploaded by Radio Free Asia on social media platform X showed a large number of people gathering at the Shenzhen Japanese School to mourn and chanting “oppose hate education.”

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, while visiting Ishikawa Prefecture, said, “This is an extremely despicable criminal act, and I am deeply concerned about it. I strongly demand that the Chinese side clarify the facts. As more than a day has passed since the incident, I have instructed to promptly request detailed explanations from the Chinese side.”

The Japanese Embassy in China lowered its flag to half-mast on the 19th to mourn the victim and issued a statement expressing the belief that the situation is serious and sincerely hoping that the Chinese government will make every effort to protect Japanese expatriates in China, uncover the truth, and prevent such incidents from happening again.

According to the Nikkei newspaper, Consul General Yoshi…
