On Sunday, July 28th, a shooting incident occurred in a park in Rochester, New York, resulting in one fatality and at least six injuries.
According to the Associated Press, the Rochester police stated that around 6:20 p.m. on July 28th, they arrived at Maplewood Park and found that shots had been fired at a party, resulting in casualties.
Officer Greg Bello mentioned that a person in their twenties died in the shooting incident, with six others injured, one of whom is in critical condition. The injured have been taken to receive medical treatment.
Bello stated that the identity of the deceased cannot be disclosed until the family is notified.
Several law enforcement agencies, including the New York State Police, Rochester Police, Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, and Irondequoit Police, have responded to the shooting incident.
“We still don’t know how many people were involved in the shooting,” Bello said. “We are looking for more witnesses.”
Authorities have requested anyone with videos of the shooting scene to send the footage to the Major Crimes Unit or law enforcement agency, or call 311 or 911 to provide tips.
Police have stated that no one has been arrested yet in connection with the shooting incident.
Rochester is located approximately 340 miles (547 kilometers) northwest of Manhattan.
