This time, the incident involved glass windows falling from a storefront along the street, hitting and ultimately causing the death of one pedestrian.
Witnesses reported that around 12:30 p.m. on the 17th, a pedestrian was struck by the falling glass as they passed by the intersection of Nanjing West Road and Nanhui Road. A female victim was seen lying on the sidewalk near 1010 Nanjing West Road with blood coming from her head.
According to local community workers at the scene, the incident involved a shop located along the street.
In the afternoon of the 18th, the official WeChat account of the Shimen Second Road Subdistrict Office in Jing’an District reported that at 12:19 p.m. on the 17th, a glass display window collapsed at an empty shop at 1010 Nanjing West Road, injuring two pedestrians. One of them was pronounced dead after being taken to the hospital, while the other is currently receiving treatment for foot injuries. The cause of the incident is under investigation.
Prior to this, on the evening of August 15th, a famous bubble tea chain store in Shanghai, Jasmine Milk White, experienced a ceiling decoration collapse incident at one of their branches, resulting in the death of a store employee.
