“【Mark Time】Russia Repeatedly Invades Airspace, EU Plans to Build Drone Wall”

In the backdrop of Russia’s alleged multiple intrusions into the airspace of EU countries, European Union leaders held an informal summit in Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark, on October 1. The summit focused on discussing the feasibility of constructing a “Drone Wall” (Drohnenwall) to enhance the aerial defense capabilities of the eastern borders of Europe. These actions taken by Europe against drones are also valuable references for the United States and Taiwan.

An aerial early warning system, if integrated with ground-based radar systems into a comprehensive network, can establish a comprehensive situational awareness map, displaying real-time information on aerial, ground, and maritime targets in the vicinity of Russia. This forms an early warning system for drones, aircraft, and missiles, which plays a crucial role in preventing Russia’s intrusions.

In addition to expensive anti-aircraft missiles, affordable air defense systems have been developed, including anti-aircraft guns, short-range air defense missiles, laser weapons, etc. However, the range of these weapons does not exceed 10 kilometers, typically only a few kilometers, making them suitable for point defense of high-value targets. The United States has successfully brought laser-guided rockets APKWS into the sky, deployable from F-16, F-15 fighter jets, and AH-64 armed helicopters. By introducing laser-guided rockets APKWS, NATO countries will soon have the capability to intercept drones cost-effectively in the air.
